SpeedHabits
A React Native app with a Firebase backend that turns daily routines into speedruns so people can build habits faster, with friends.
Routines, but treated like speedruns
SpeedHabits lets you turn something like a morning routine into a timed run with checkpoints: wake up, make bed, brush teeth, prep clothes, out the door. Each run is measured, stored, and compared against your own history, so the challenge is always “beat your previous PB”, not “be perfect forever”.
Under the hood it’s a React Native app backed by Firebase for auth, real‑time data, and leaderboards, so the same routines can be shared, raced, and iterated on across devices without extra infrastructure overhead.
Example run: Morning routine PB
Personal best: 07:34Each checkpoint is a small habit you want to automate. Over time the run becomes muscle memory, not a negotiation.
Racing friends instead of streaks
Traditional habit apps lean on streaks and reminders. SpeedHabits borrows from speedrunning and multiplayer leaderboards: you can see friends' PBs for a routine, challenge them to a new run, and climb routine‑specific scoreboards instead of watching a generic streak counter creep up.
Tech and where it's going
The plan is a React Native client with Firebase Auth and Firestore for real‑time runs, friend lists, and leaderboards, plus analytics to learn which routines actually stick. That keeps the stack simple, fast to iterate, and friendly to both iOS and Android.
